Christmas Lunch Club
On 19th December we had our annual Christmas Lunch Club. We had 35 guests join us for a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Lunch was expertly cooked by Liz, Sally and Tricia and was enjoyed by all. Huge thanks go to the Sole Bay Singers who provided entertainment, we look forward to having them join us again at a later date.

Volunteer Recruitment
As always we continue to look for new volunteers, drivers, lunch club cooks, befrienders, the list goes on. If you, or anyone you know could spare even just a couple of hours a month and would like to help out please get in touch. Volunteering for the VHC is incredibly flexible, it really is as little or as much as you would like to do.
Drivers are paid 45p per mile, journeys range from a short trip to the doctors to hospital trips further afield. Lunch club cooks are responsible for planning a two course home cooked meal, purchasing ingredients and cooking, costs are reimbursed and Level 2 Food Hygiene Training is provided. Since the pandemic our befriending service has dwindled, however, this is something we are keen to reinstate. Befriending can be in person or over the phone, it might be as simple as going to visit someone for a cup of tea once a week just to give them some company.
All drivers and befrienders undergo an Enhanced DBS check before they start volunteering for us.
Curry Night
Friday 14th March at the Stella Peskett Millennium Hall. Come and enjoy a 3 course home cooked curry with us to raise funds for the VHC. Siva Muniandy will be preparing a delicious meal of Vegetable Bahjis and Curry Puffs, Chicken or Vegetable Curry with Rice, a variety of sides and Semolina Barfi or Fruit Salad to finish. Tickets cost £25 per person and are available from the VHC office at the Stella Peskett. Please contact the office on 01502 724549 for more information
An Extra Update…
On Monday 27th January our VHC Co-Ordinator, Flic Gellatly added a large dose of ‘ hope’ to her life by marrying her partner Mark Hope.
The civil ceremony was held at The Wherry Hotel, Oulton Broad on a bright but breezy day – which made confetti throwing a challenge! Surrounded by family and friends the wedding service was a small, personal, private affair followed by a stunning afternoon tea and fizz service.
Flic was radiant, Mark looked unusually smart out of his normal work attire and Willow made the perfect bridesmaid.
We all wish Flic and Mark much happiness in their married life together.
